Need Suggestions for New Pelican Website Features!

Hey everyone. All this talk of a regional locator has got me thinking that you guys can help me out. Take a look at this site:

http://www.cgi-resources.com

and let me know if there are any scripts or useful programs that you find there that you think would make an added benefit to the website. That webpage is already where I got most of the ideas for our current site:

- Free email
- Free Webpage
- BBS
- Ad servers
- Calendar funciton
- Classifieds
- Thumbnail pics
- Owner's Gallery

Etc, etc. etc...

So, after looking there (look under PHP and Perl), do you guys have any suggestions?

Slightly OT, but since we are talking site design I wouls find a "next" link useful in multiple page threads instead of ">>", you already have "a last"

Wayne 962 01-11-2003 02:01 AM

Okay Nick, that was easy enough...done! I agree, easier to hit to the next page...

Wow, that was quick! Thanks

Wayne -

When I made my suggestion on the locator thread, I mentioned giving results according to distance from the target area. Here is what I thought would be a good tool for supporting that type of solution.

Wayne, how about indicating that the person has PM or email up at the top of the page?

H.D. There's a limit to everything! ;)

my search in the classifieds never worked. but when searching all, the classifieds are in there...just have to get through the BMW stuff.

I've been toying with some PHP extensions for my Apache server that have nice drag and drop gallery features.... Might make a nice feature in the user profile area...

I can't seem to do "attach multiple" and IMG tags within regional forums BTW...

ha ha, thanks Jim

But at least I can spell better than Eric...ha ha!

maybe a sellers rating / buyers rating . not a black list, but the screwed on ebay posts are getting thicker.

Not sure if this is the kind of suggestion you want but how about a European 2nd hand parts (classifieds) section.

I fixed the image thing in the regional forums...

I'm not necessarily talking about changes to the bulletin board, as I didn't write the software, and can only make minor changes, because I'm getting ready for version 3...

I'll look into the spell checker...

Wayne,
Not exactly on your topic here, but I think a growing number of folks would like a small "Pelican" sticker to be made. Maybe the Pelican bird with the words underneath or something (just 2-4 inches in size). I for one, am not a huge sticker fan - too much and you look rice, but would put one next to my PCA badge...
Just a suggestion - you guys are doing a great job.
Cheers,

I have 20,000 stickers at the shop right now, and they are going into all orders as of Jan 1st (or so that was my plan). I have one of this:

and one of these:

What happened to "go to first unread post"?

Wayne 962 01-11-2003 02:15 PM

It's still there - it just clears itself after a while...

I would really like to be able to search by a Porsche part Number. The place I order all my VW stuff allows me to enter the VW part number and hit search. It pulls up all the parts I need.

Wayne you have a great site (I purchase all my Porsche stuff from you) but I think that would make just that much better.

Thanks and keep up the good work.

One suggestion regarding the forum. When I do a search from any of the various forums, can you have the forum I came from automatically selected as the forum to search? Thanks.

As long as the search is not then limited to that particular forum. Rennlist is extremely annoying because of this.
