Need Help - CIS Question
Hi All,
I've got a 83 911 SC. I was wondering if anyone has replaced the "air valve" on this model. This specific "air valve" is not to be confused with the "auxiliary air regulator" sometimes confused as the "aux. air valve". I've replaced that one already. This one is a big disc with two connections on the back side. I've bought one and been able been able to find it but have no clue how to get to it . It appears to sit behind the air box / fuel distributor. My question is, how do you get to it ? am i missing something that dosen't requiring taking the air box / fuel distributor off. I enjoy working on the car but I don't want to get tooooo far over my head. Thanks for the help, |
Here's a link to doing a partial engine drop which might help replacing the part, you'll gain 4-6" of space. Not sure if that will do the trick, I replaced my whole CIS in one piece, so never just installed that part by itself.

It's held onto a mounting bracket behind the airbox with 2 bolts. If you feel for the top hose on the gold donut then feel back towards you will find the mounting bracket. There's 2 mounting bolts. I *think* these are self tappers with a washer. You might be able to remove it but it might be difficult. Be super careful you don't drop the washers :). Partial drop it would be pretty easy. At a minimum you'll have to remove the rubber cis hat.
