Question Need help: ER Spring plate / Torsion bar cover

I have a set of ER Quick change spring plates that i am having difficulty installing on my 86 Carrera.
I have followed both ER instructions and bentley manual closely, with no luck.

My set up is:
QC spring plates
SuperPro poly bushings
Stock 25mm torsion bars

Everything will fit together nicely and I have no trouble indexing to the required angle. but i cannot bolt on the torsion/spring plate cover. it doesn’t align with the holes. this is identical both left and right.

The torsion bars and covers are in good condition with no deformity.
I have tried using longer bolts to feed the cover on square, this kind of worked but would fall out of alignment when trying to exchange for the shorter bolts.

Does any one know if the spring plates work with all bushings or are they designed for the poly bronze/rubber ones ER sells?

Any suggestions on what might be the problem / solutions?
I am stuck for ideas so any advice will be a great help.

Charlie

That's weird. Those are the same spring plate covers that were originally on the car? Only thing I can think of is you have the LH and RH swapped, but they look pretty symmetrical.

If they fit before, they should fit again.

Garage
Does it fit / line up without the spring plate/torsion bar there?

I can't see the two -per side- bottom spacers that go between each plate...They are must do. If I remember correctly, I also used a small pry-bar to pull one of mine around for it to line up....
