Muffler Option based on price

Hi All -
I have been going back and forth on ordering a Bisimoto pulse chamber for my 3.2. I want the prototype finish (I like the raw look) and would include the sound arrestor as well (just in case it is way too loud). This puts me at $599 plus shipping.

At this price point, are there any other options available?

My car is plenty fast for me, but just sounds too tame for my liking. I have a modified (some of the baffles removed - but still a 1 in, 1 out) stock muffler that I bought used out of the classified section. It does sound better than stock, but is still pretty tame.

I do not want to add an additional tip on the passenger side. If I change the tip location, I would prefer two out the center (under the license plate).

Any additional options at 599?

Thanks!
Scott S

walk away from the prototype option. Mine was not possible to fit to my car. It is now a garage ornament.

There's no magic formula for choosing a muffler. Start trying them until you find one you like.

why don't you get a Dansk Sport muffler ? Works and sounds right too

+1 I was considering the black sport muffler ( less expensive ) and went with the SS larger outlet one, just love it and lighter than OEM to boot.

I installd a magnaflow muffler and coverted to a 1 in 2 out. The SS mandrel bent plumbing and muffler only cost about $350. Love the sound.

Another vote for Dansk.

However, am curious to hear about Trond's experience w/ the Bisi unit. I know there was a thread but never saw a resolution.

Draco, during the winter brake I am planning to change the muffler from stock to a Dansk. I'm just not sure about the difference in noise between the black sport muffler 70 mm tail pipe vs. the Dansk SS with the 84 mm. I know this is a very subjective question, how is the noise level inside/outside with your 84 mm tail pipe and is there any drone?

The short of it is I purchased what was marketed as a prototype unit. It was my impression it would have be used for testing and might not look new which I thought was cool. However when attempting to bolt it on I found it did not fit on the car. Not even closely. To be fair Bisimoto did offer a return & refund, but as I live on the opposite side of the world even that would be quite costly for me. So I still have it as an ornament in my garage. Don't know if I will be able to cut & weld it to fit or not as the geometry is quite far off

Our Single outlet muffler for Carrera isn't much more than that amount, weighs 10 pounds, and accents that good flat six sound at the proper sport level. Muffler will last as long as you car and has no drone.

I've got one on my car. I really like it. No drone. It's more of "an event" now when I start it.

From inside, very pleasant and when I punch the throttle aggressive but not too loud

I do have a new sound pad on the engine bay

But I do notice alarms going off when I pass them 😎

Buddy's 87 has the black one, sounds the same

Fabspeed cat bypass added nice sound to my car.

Where would someone purchase the Dansk Sport muffler? Thanks,

Steve Weiner @ Rennsport Systems has them.

How about this one, I tuned this motor a while back and was stunned by the results with this exhaust setup!
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/915427-84-89-911-exhaust-proven-results.html
This is a all stock US 3.2L motor, fresh rebuild using my injector+chip package, still has the stock air meter. I've tuned a lot of these motors but this one is the very best US 3.2L I've done! That exhaust setup is very clever and the dyno numbers indicate that it works!

First, the stock 3.2L heat exchangers are not worth replacing but adding a cat bypass (if possible) is your first step after that put a dansk pipe on it.
Or build something as shown in the thread above.

Brian -
I just received your PM. I had no idea your prices were so close. I will drop you a line. I am very interested in the 1 in 2 out in the center. Do you (or does anyone else) have a video of this muffler so I can hear it? I looked it up on you tube, but the sound quality was not that great.

Thanks for the note Brian. Look forward to speaking with you.

We don't post sound clips for that very reason, they simply do not mimic the live experience. The single inlet GT3 look muffler is a bit louder that the single out version. We have valves and caps to tame it if need be.
Sal, I am working on an active exhaust now for the SC and Carrera. Similar in flow path as the one you worked with. Should be released in the spring.

scarceller 12-16-2016 12:05 PM

Brian,

That's great news! The setup I posted is custom and you can't just get it off the shelf, but the idea of an active exhaust will sell. That setup I posted is super quite on the street till you get on the throttle, and the valve is super simple vacuum activated. You can get fancy with RPM module but I must say the vacuum approach is real simple.

Can't wait to see what you come up with.
