Keep the tail! Great looking car. IMO targas are way underrated.

New fuel pump, fuel filter, and fan belt in! Picked up tires for the 911 in my 944 turbo yesterday too. Went with Continental ExtremeContact Sport. Any of you guys running those?

While doing my fan belt I found I only had 5 shims in there. Called around some local guys I know and I got a lead on someone only a few minutes from my house having an extra I could pick up. He had this sweet thing in his garage. '69 911E converted to S spec. He's owned it since '72 and bought it from the original owner who was the VP of VAG at the time. Awesome car!!

Car looks great, congrats on the find!

Thanks to the help of one of my good friends, we mounted and balanced the tires in his basement last night. 200 mile round trip today and no shake!

Wow your doing great work on the car. Good to see a guy your age working on the car. Have you added the high beam relay yet and there is a in line fuse to add to the ignition system to help against dash fires. My son has an 83 and he's removed the fog lights and the rear rubber bumpers for a different look. Also keep the tail. They make the car. Buy an engine lid and paint it red see how you like it and but keep the lid and tail. Thanks for the updates and enjoy it.

I could hear a wheel bearing in the drivers side front that was bad. Pulled the hub and sure enough the outside race was extremely pitted on half of it? Pressed them out and put new inside and outside wheel bearings in.

Also the engine heater blower never worked. Its starting to get chilly in indiana so I decided to trouble shoot it and find the issue. I got 12v to the connector so the motor was bad. Bench tested the motor, nada. $225 for the cheapest motor??? I decided to tear it apart and found the problem. The graphite pieces that run against the brush had a bad connection to the wire. Pulled my grandpas drawer full of different types of connectors and sure enough I found some that fit. Soldered in new ones and boom! Problem solved and saved $225 on a new motor.

I'm moving to SoCal and driving this car out October 29th (1800 miles) so trying to fix all of the little problem before the big trip!

Made a fire extinguisher mount yesterday. Bought some 1" pipe and some sheet metal, whole thing costed me $22. Went to a friends shop and borrowed some of his tools. Used a pipe bender for a 30 bend on the arm & a shear/angle press to make the side tabs clean. Welds are meh but ran out of gas and just sent it. It's hidden under the seat so not really worried. Painted it today and love it.

Finally got my Carrera cooler installed! Had the bottom bracket welded in. Everything was pretty straightforward and easy, however, lining up the oil lines was very tedious.

I'll be leaving Sunday at 7am to drive from Chicago to LA to move. 7 day trip, and i'll be going though Denver, Pheonix, Las Vegas, and everything in between. If anyone would like to grab coffee or food to get me out of the car for a minute, feel free to message me!

Why did you decide to not use the Blaupunkt Reno? If you really aren't going to use it, would you be interested in selling it? I pulled the glitzy Sony aftermarket head (couldn't stand the bling!) and just snapped in the Porsche "radio delete" plate. Sure would like to find a really nice RENO to pop in there.

Have a safe - and super-enjoyable - trip!

I have a Reno SQR 46 and a Porsche CR-1. As much as I love them, they don't have the features I like (aux, BT, all that stuff). Its a rare thing for me to sell off parts, they'll be coming with me, sorry!
