915 Transmission Rebuild Near North Carolina

Happy Monday! In the process of searching for a transmission rebuild shop. Preferably nearby, I am located in central NC.

Any recommendations are much appreciated. I have seen some recommendations in other threads just nothing local.

79 SC has been sitting for 20 years and I have not driven the car yet, just now pulling it apart to get it road worthy. The transmission has 158K on it and all original as far as I know. Previous owner states 2nd gear required some effort before it would engage.

Thanks for any referrals.

Hendrick Porsche in Charlotte has Jim Burton who has been doing them a long long time.

Or if you want to go down to Charleston SC, there’s Autometrics.

You might consider Dr. Evil- He has been rebuilding Porsche 901's forever and also does 915's I believe. He did the 901 in my 914-6 and it is great. https://www.evilwerks.com
