79 Comfort seats backdated to separate headrest?

I'm not a fan of any of the one piece comfort seats (or sport seats for that matter).

My 79 with cork interior seats are just one step away from Roger Moore and Moonraker in my eyes! If they were white I'd be in double jeopardy.

I'm wondering if anyone has ever cut them down and backdated them to the earlier 2 piece seat design which I much prefer.

My brother and I did this with our Bug (sans the headrest) last year and it worked great. Just fishing and hoping....

We have seen it done on sports seats. The pro shops that have done these, started with client's cores that needed new covers/ foam anyway. early Head rests are available and we have the grommets for the holes

Try Autobahn Interiors in San Diego- ask for Tony to get them done.

Would take significant re-engineering of the seat frame...

Borrowed this pic from a different thread.
