replacing H5s to HIDs on a 964 recommendation?

anyone have experience with this? I would like to change the entire assembly with a more modern one like the Singers. I know that TRE has recently come out with one, anyone try these? any one try the "Sick Hids" ?

ive seen a number of threads on this but they seem to be many years old and this technology I am sure has changed tremendously in the last couple of years.

thanks

There are a couple of different options. I'm not sure about fit for the 964 specifically though.

John Audette makes an LED version that is based on JW Speaker LEDs. His website is audettecollection.com Pros: "instant" on and low current draw. JW Speaker is supposed to be a good brand so not cheap junk stuff. Cons: doesn't have quite the same aesthetics of the Singer HID look.

Pelican FOZZY has a website (flatsixillumination.com I believe) where he sells HID kits that look well done. Pros: Aesthetics and several options. Cons: HIDs are not "instant" on so you lose the ability to flash headlights.

There was an excellent review by another Pelican I read but unfortunately I forgot the username! That person had tried the two I listed as well as the TRE unit. He put them in the order of best light output - FOZZY's HID, Audette's LED and then TRE. He ultimately decided on Audette's because of the flash capability. Maybe he will see this and respond so he can get the credit. :)

I think prices are all pretty similar so it probably comes down to technical and looks for a decision.

I've been looking into this for a while. I'm leaning towards the HID at the moment but that could change.

I notice that Rennline is now offering HID projectors as well. Based on their other products, I suspect they are high quality.

Bi-Xenon HID Headlight Conversion-Rennline, Inc.

Try also Closed Course Motorsport and http://carmagic.us/headlight.html

Both are on Pelican. I have the led gauge lights from carmagic and they are outstanding.

There is one more option to the listed above.

Engelbert,

Good to hear from you! I did not realize you were making LED headlights now. I'll be sure to check them out!

I have the inserts for sugar scoop or the complete headlights. Below is a picture of the complete set installed. As well the external marker LED's.
