My Wheels are Finished - Fuchs Restoration Service
I'm starting my very own thread. My wheels arrived today and I posted some photos on another thread and nobody said anything
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() My wheels just got here and here are the results. I had this done at Fuchs Restoration Service in Costa Mesa, CA. The total cost was $1,372 which was $260 per wheel, $18 for back sides per wheel, $25 per center cap, $160 shipping. Expensive but they are beautiful. The finish is factory stock anodized. They don't specifically say "double anodizing" on their site but they say "no more thin anodizing". I sent these in mid October and they were done Dec 2nd. I just got them today because I missed their first e-mail telling me they were done. Tomorrow, I am shipping them my 944 Club Sport wheels which are similar to the Design 90's but forged and made by Fuchs. Those wheels will be anodized (no paint). I wish I was rich enough to just hang these in the Garage - they are stunning to look at! Here they are: ![]() ![]()

Beautiful!!! What condition were they in when you sent them in? Any damage that had to be repaired?

Wow those look good. I'm debating getting mine done like yours or the same but polished. Really doesn't seem like a bad deal at all. Thanks for posting pictures.

Thanks for sharing. I've been considering sending my wheels to Rick for awhile now so it's good to see the high quality of work they're turning out. No two year wait either.
cheers |

They are beautiful! I'm interested to see the 944 Club Sport wheels when they're done, so far from what I've been seeing & hearing, Fuchs Restoration are doing a good job both on delivery time (pretty reasonable) & the quality of work. It's also great to see pricing on their website, I'll probably be sending out some 16" Fuchs in the near future (after car gets back from paint & it's put together rolling). Thanks for the pictures!

I'll take some photos of the back tonight. I'm not super impressed with the back side. It's just basic flat black and if I were to do it over, I would probably bead blast and clear coat. However, the fronts are perfect and I am completely happy with their work.
Getting tires mounted tomorrow!

100% BETTER, no matter the application or correctness in my opinion. And yes, I have some with colored centers......just the classic look is killer.

The black centers were perfect for the 944 but these wheels are going on my 1974 911 and I wanted the stock factory look.
My Baby: Still has it's Carrera Fuchs on it (polished). The new wheels will be 1" wider both front and rear. The 944 Turbo Fuchs have an offset where the extra inch of width is 1/2 inside and 1/2 outside so they will fit my mid year with out the flares. The rear wheel well will be very filled in. ![]()

Thank you for the kind words Tidy. I’m Rick Hartbrodt owner of FuchsRestoration.com. A fellow Pelicaner tipped me off about this thread. Tidy has it right about offset and filling out wheel wells and original exposed paddles look. Seems most of us want more “lip” and Turbo Fuchs remain popular for just that reason. I’m backdating my ’88 coupe into a 1974 Ducktail Carrera using 7’s and 8’s. They look great but the rear wheel well needs to be filled out just a tad more so I’m going to have to put a spacer on the car. 951 wheels, 944 Turbo, would have done the trick but I did not have any around. The wheels while looking great on the floor (or hanging on your wall ☺ ) will transform your car. Restored wheels with fresh anodizing remains the least expensive way to improve the overall appearance of your ride.
Happy New Year to all. Rick

rhart,
Mine are in need of restoration. There are a couple spots of rash on a wheel or two. Is that kind of "repair" covered in the normal restoration process? Mike Last edited by SpyderMike; 12-31-2016 at 05:44 PM.. |
