speedo

Hey guys,

I'm pretty sure I have my speedo wired up correctly I'm having some issues with it not working at all on my 911sc, is there any initial trouble shooting I can try??

I've tested for voltage that's ok

I'm wondering if my speed sensor could be stuffed..just want to rule out the actual speedo first before I go replacing sensor.

I'm also having issues with my oil level indicator to doesn't seem to be registering haven't done any testing as of yet..

Did you try flipping the sensor wires and verifying the wires are making good contact? Was that double ground wire end always unplugged?

If you have access to a signal generator you can bench test the speedo its self and confirm its working. If memory serves its a 0-12V square wave between 0 and 300ish Hz. its been a while since I did this but if you ramp up the frequency slowly you should see the speed slowly increase.

If you can get a small oscilloscope into the car you can see if you are getting the proper signal off the sensor. You may be able to jack the car up and spin it by hand and see output as well.

You may also want to remove the small plastic piece and check the solder joints from the connectors to the small wires behind them. They are somewhat fragile and can be broken if handled aggressively while disassembling the speedo.

Regards
Dave
