Ease clutch, 4k rpm...bad smell in cabin

I waited too long at a stop sign trying to get across traffic. Had the engine revved up to some 4K. Got a break in traffic and realized I could just let out the clutch slowly instead of darting across the intersection. Right after that I had the worst smell in the cabin which went away after about 5 minutes.

Have any of you done this little bone-headed manuever? Did I just take 10K miles off my clutch?
