Wiper motor problem
 

I am not an expert when it comes to electrical systems. Today I switched on the wipers and after an inch or two they stopped moving. The wiper motor got very hot over the following few minutes, so I disconnected all five wires I found on the motor.

Any suggestions what caused the problem and how I can solve it? Car is from 1968 and the motor seems to be original, so I don't really want to replace it.

probally an internal electrical short on the motor, more than likely you will have to replace it or repair it, but check your spindles aren't seized. Bit of a twat removing the wiper motor, there is a hidden nut behind the speedometer/odometer to a strap on the motor, so you'll need to pull the odometer out to see it

I don't think originality matters with regard things like a wiper motor, it my opinion "originality" is more about original engine, original interior, or original paint colour, etc.

If you need a wiper motor get it replaced or rewound or etc, it dosent matter if its still the same one from 68. That's hardly a selling point!
