mounting plate - 2.7 badge
Checking to see if anyone have a good method for attaching a 2.7/2.4 badge to a 72 grille without the original mounting plate.
I bought a NOS grille and a 2.7 badge from Porsche but missing the mounting plate part that has the 4 pins that go into the grille and apparently there are none of these parts available for purchase. Here's a picture of the part that I had been looking for and what I'm trying to accomplish. Since I've had no luck finding the part, I'm exploring other hopefully simple alternative ways of attaching the badge to the grille. Has anyone been through this before and have any tips? Can the badge simply be glued to the grille? Or does it make sense to fabricate a mounting plate to attach badge to grille? Even that would need to be attached to the grille somehow. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks. ![]()

I have a different grill as I have a tea tray that I mounted my 2.7 badge to. you could try to find some thin screws and mount the flat plate and then use some JB weld or clear silicone to mount the 2.7 plate to the plate that you fastened to the grill. If you don't want to do this because of the final product height you could JB weld some machine screws that are the correct length directly to the bottom of the 2.7 name plate and they then go through the screen and attach with nylocks after you have made the machine screw head flat from a grinder is what I did and I used stainless machine screws when I did my 2.7 install.

Thanks for the idea on the stainless screws zedsn. That sounds like it will probably work, so looks like I'll be visiting a hardware store soon. If anyone else has used another method, I'd be interested to hear about it. Thanks.

I removed the 2.7 badge when having my grill re-anodized. I pried the base plate off. Didn't know what I was going to do to reattach it. Found some adhesive strips at my local Ace Hardware,
DAP Contact Stik. Placed a couple of strips under the base and pressed onto the grill. Been there for 2 years and hasn't moved. Car has been in some pretty hot climates but it's still holding. Cheap, easy fix to try.

Thanks Tony. That does seem like an easy fix. Looks like Ace is the place to fix this issue.

I used some 3M double-stick meant for heavy duty use. The 2.7 emblem has been there for 11 years now.
