3.2 distributor issue
While doing a valve adjustment on my 1987 911 I came across a small piece of what appears to be a black fiber washer in the lower chamber of the distributor (see circled item in photo). Oddly enough I found a similar piece inside a freinds distributor (same MY) when I was working on his car a week prior. I have seen a exploded diagram showing all of the distributor parts, and it looks like there might be a fiber washer in the lower chamber, so I am seeking anyone's assistance if they can confirm this, as well as any information as to where I can locate a replacement washer or rebuild kit? Both cars have been running fine, so I am not sure how critical the washer is, but it obviously has a valuable purpose.
Thanks, David

I have located a number of threads confirming what I found is in fact a part of the distributor and I have placed an order for a distributor rebuild kit from ************.com.
Thanks, David

The last time I checked the PK distributor kit for the 3.2's, it did NOT include the plastic bushings that those springs ride on... I need a set of those as mine disintegrated.
If the kit included these, please let me know. I say 'need' but they fell apart over 100k miles ago, so maybe I don't need them :-) but I do at some point before the spring wears thru the post. Chuck.H '89 TurboLookTarga, 424k miles |

Call, PK, those are special orders, I recall a fella made metal tabs to replace the plastic ones, I just don't recall who, sowwy, but try to contact PK if they have any in stock for their rebuilds. In a pinch you can gently bend the tip of the post over to insure the spring will stay on. That is what I did on my 1st Dizzy until the internal snap in bearings gave up the ghost.

I just called and they indicated that they currently don't have them, but they are making the dies right now and expect them to be available on about 3 months.
Regards, David
