Bitzracing megasquirt ... from megasquirt 1 to 2
Hi everybody - a quick question to all you guys who have upgraded Tony's megasquirt kit to a MSII/V3 (via daughterboard)
I'm not sure this is as plug and play as the manual says - I fear lots of components are missing - resistors, transistors, diodes etc. I have taken a picture... Have any of your guys done this? Maybe know what components to add to the existing PCB?

I believe, like you said, there are a lot of things missing. I had the Bitz MS1 v3, and could not find anyone to upgrade it for me( i know nothing about electronics) so i just sold mine and bought a new one. I ended up going with the Microsquirt V3, because i just dont need sequential fuel injection, nor do i need anything more than EDIS spark control. I am pretty much maxed out with the outputs on the microsquirt though.

Missing components isn't catastrophic... a bill of material is available in the megasquirt manuals. I'm curious if anyone have experienced the same - is there another way around this besides soldering or selling:-). Someone must have got the idea to upgrade one of Tony's kits to accommodate VR ignition ???
Parts are fairly cheap and probably available on AliExpress....

I just bought a used EFI kit - very similar to the Bitz and mine uses the MS3 v3.0 (with daughter board). I'm lucky in a way that this EFI was "pre-tuned" to a 3.0 ltr like mine AND it uses the MS Relay Board. But, I'm in the 'research' phase and fishing the internet for sources of info.
You might be able to get more info. from the "dubshop" in Monroe, Wash - that's where this kit was put together. I believe the owner is Mario Velotta? Hope it helps.... I'm working on a crankfire/EFI conversion and trying to understand more before I start pulling stuff out. Last edited by targa44; 01-04-2017 at 04:41 PM.. Reason: add'l |

What are you trying to install; Fuel only or Fuel and Ignition? Your board is missing the two ignition circuits and ignition output circuits.
The board can be run on MS2 fuel only but you will have to install the MS2 power jumpers to enable the daughter board. This is documented in the MS2-V3.0 manual. If you want to install ignition you will need to be familiar with the circuit layouts referenced in the the previous post. Then get out your soldering iron and go to work. The values for all the items are listed and The through-hole components are mostly easy to install. Start from the beginning in the assembly/install manual and work through each circuit component set.
