Post Cleaned oil cooler

Just cleaned and degreased the tranny and engine. Cleaned road grime off of bottom of oil cooler and in between cylinders. Still runs about 9 o'clock on the temp gauge.

is the front cooler loop hot? thermostat could be stuck if it's not. unplug oxy sensor and set CO to 3.5%. lean is hot. do you have the largest crank pulley available? big lower, small upper spins the fan fastest. the top of the cooler is where the air enters, so if it's packed with debris, temp goes up. the cat radiates heat to the engine. if you're in an area where they don't check it for emissions, take it off.

Thanks John, Yeah I thought the top of the cooler is probably dirtier than the bottom was. I am thinking about a test pipe. Just got back from a nice drive. Loop is hot.

Robert,
The cat does dump a lot of heat into the motor. My motor ran cooler without the cat. While we don't have near the heat here, as compared to your location, try running a test pipe and see if it helps.

Thanks Doug, been wanting to lose the cat anyway. Really never get past 9 oclock, unless in traffic with A/C on. Then it will creep up to the next bar. Oil pressure drops noticably when it gets that hot. Getting rid of the cat will help, so will a good thorough cleaning. Maybe when the clutch is renewed I can clean things up a bit.
