engine lid alignment?
 

Just recently, I noticed that the engine lid, deck lid, or whatever you call it... is not aligned.
It seems that the left side is even with the fender, but the right side is sagging below the fender. This makes sense because the gap is wider on the right side and tight on the left side.

Is there a way to adjust this?

Search around. The big tip is to remove the grille before you adjust, in case it gets stuck.

Adjust the rubber bumpers on the underside of the engine lid to correct the height. if the gap is not even side to side, adjust the striker to slightly towards the side with the narrow gap. If the lid is difficult to open, turn the adjusting screw in the center to relieve the spring tension. Removing the grille isn't a bad idea if you have been having trouble opening. But I usually leave everything together. Hope that helps. Good Luck, Bob

We need a bit more info, do you have a tail, if so, do you have dual struts on one side?

yes and yes...

The height is correct on the lid... it's more like the lid is angled and not squared between the rear fenders.

You'll need a couple of extra sets of hands, but with someone holding onto each side of the decklid, you should be able to loosen the 4 allen head bolts that secure the decklid to the hinges, adjust the decklid as needed, and re-tighten.

But as others have cautioned, there is the potential to get the latching mechanism out of whack. I've haven't personally experienced this, but if you close the decklid after adjusting and it won't re-open, I believe you need to remove the rear bumper and muffler to get to it from the bottom. With a tail you can't just simply remove the grille...

The four attaching bolts have a bit of wiggle room in the hole placement if you need to adjust diagonally.
Your post doesn't say if you are trying to equalize the height or the gaps, maybe both?

Sorry to write, here lies the issues:

With a Tail, the lid needs struts on both sides to equalize the pressure on the lid. You can test this by removing the struts and you will see the lid will not twist up on you when you close it.

Several Options:

1. Find a Turbo Lid Hinge with a bracket for the strut ( our car has the strut mount on the chassis.

2. Weld the triangular bracket on your existing hinge.

both above methods, you can re-use the dual strut by simply splitting the two and use 10MM bolts/nuts to mount or obtain the proper push pin for the back and use 10MM for the front ( facing you )

3. The least expensive, remove the struts and use a engine lid holding stick/rod with PVC or Metal.
