How to tell if I got an Euro model

I think my 84 is an Euro model. Other than the small bumper caps, what else can I look for? I have a cat and O2 connect to it.

If the VIN starts with WPOZZZ, then it's a Euro model. Euro's also have the yellow side markers in the front fenders, though this is not necessarily a dead giveaway since some American owners have added them.

and the Euro motor (930/20) has an additional 17 HP over the US engine (930/21) according to BA's book!

According to Tobias Aichele the catalytic converter was not available in Europe until '86 and only US, Canadian and Japanese vehicles had oxygen sensors in '84 (930/21)

If it goes fast it's a euro, if it's slow it's a USA model ;)

Obviously if it is a euro, someone converted it (at least partially). VIN numbers will correctly identify it. Visual indicators would be; side marker lights, lack of cat, and two allen head bolts/plate under the door locking mechanism on the door (mounting for the side impact bars inside the doors).

Euro models *may* have a cat for tax purposes...look instead for engine numbers and chassis numbers...all other external clues can go either way because they can be added/deleted.

There were cat Euro models, all German and Swiss and perhaps some other countries, with -I believe 217 din hp- whereas the non-cat models, like mine :D have (or had :( ) 231 bhp. But as some have pointed out, the ID is in the motor and chassis numbers.
