Center Console Rear Defrost Button Stuck/Replacement

I tried replacing the bulb in the console defrost button with an LED and for whatever reason now when the button is pressed it does not spring back up. I can manually pull it out, but it feels like something internally is binding up. This is probably a stupid question, but what is the best way to remove it from the console? I want to take out to see if I can fix it and if I cant I will get a replacement.

For anyone wondering the bulb used is the same as the gauge bulbs I got from rothaus at Carmagic.us I tried using one of rothaus's led's in the defroster button and hazard button, but the LED would not work. The ashtray uses the same bulb and rothaus's LED works great.

On mine there are two tabs that you need to squeeze towards the body of the switch, working from the backside of console. Then push the switch out from the back. Then you can separate the button half from the back half of switch - grey part plugs in to beige.
