S brake piston internals
ok the new stainless steel pistons came for my S calipers, any sugestions on switching the internals from the trash pistons into the new pistons

Are you refering to the retract rods inside the pistons?
I looked at mine when I had them apart....I could not see any way of removing them. It appears that the rod fits up into the spring assembly and pulls the piston backwards into the caliper when the pressure is released. Good idea. I just dont know how to chnge the system over to the new pistons. Bob

![]() As far as the piston side goes, you just take out the cir-clip . . or am I missing something here?

its the movable tube inside the piston i have no idea on how to get it out and dont want to force the situation whithout a clear plan

i got it thanks for the help, i got mine from Zimms for 29.95 each and lets just say i was more than happy with that price. just finished rebuilding them. The only thing that was a pain in the ass was the dust boot.

I got mine from Z as well. If I had known that Stoddard's came with new internals, I would have gotten them there, but Z is only a 20 minute drive from me.
How much effort did it take to put your pistons back in? Mine would bind so I got a large C-clamp and cranked them in. I hope nothing is wrong with them...

The 'internals' are retained by an internal snap-ring ... easy change if not rusted solid! It is actually a stack of 'not-so-standard washers' ... so be mindful of the order as you reassemble them in the new piston after cleaning!

once i knew how to do it it was pretty easy, it took 5minutes to remove and reinstall in the new piston
