Service shops in VA and SC?

My wife and I are visiting family during some road trips to VA and SC this year. In case something comes up with the new (to me) 3.2 carrera, I am hoping to have a short list of recommended shops in the area for my go-to service support. We will have AAA, insurance and roadside support.
We live in MN, I have been looking at pcarshops for road trip support, it has listings for different locations, but clealry none I am familiar with. I'm hoping to hear recommendations from people here. Family is located in Ashburn Va mainly as well as Aiken SC; any recommended quality places we should go to if needed in or near those areas would be greatly appreciated, thank you. |

I used to go to have Taylor Chapman work on my Porsches. His shop is close to Ashburn, VA, in Sterling. Chapman Auto Werks - Home

Thank you Jim, good to know!

If in the McLean/Tyson's VA area, Intersport is the place to go. No affiliation, and always pleased with their work over 4+ years.

Thank you for the recommendation garment. Yep will do, family also resides in Vienna, Lessburg, Chesterfield, with some up in Lusby MD.
Looking forward to some nice stretches of road making our way down into the Carolinas. I love that area's live oaks with their Spanish Moss. |

I've heard good things about Doc's Garage in Columbia SC. Take HWY 17 south in SC of a good scenic road through the Low Country.

Autometrics in Charleston, SC. Primarily a race shop, but they rebuilt my transmission, as well as corner balancing, 4 wheel alignment. Great people.
Unfortunately, I know of no one near Aiken. Pooscheys are thin on the ground around here as we have no dealer nearer than Columbia. |

When going from VA to SC if you are doing the 81 - 77 route through NC there is a shop North of Charlotte in Denver NC called Black Forest Racing.

Thank you All, I appreciate the suggestions on the garages and the routes!

Jann, where in Denver are you?
There is a guy in Aiken (or was) that rebuilt Porsche engines, etc. I forget his name. Think he was involved with some race teams or something long back. My parents live in Aiken. Todd |

Not sure if you do DE's or use Club Registration. Behind that log-in we have a list of approved tech-inspection facilities that has places listed by city all over VA/NC/SC and a few others. The shops listed above are all on this list along with many others. Any can likely help in a pinch. I carry this list printed out in my car just in case. Think you could also print it from the Carolinas PCA web-site. Docs Garage (out of Lexington near Columbia) goes the extra mile doing Tech at most of our club DE's. I can e-mail this file if you cannot link.

In Aiken,SC. Try Drew Slayton. He has a shop at his house. Very knowledgeable on pre water cooled cars.

While slightly outside of the area thread title, if anyone has a preferred shop recommendation near Lusby, MD I'd love to make note.
