Targa door window won't go down all the way

Hi all,

I replaced my window regulator with a used/new one that looks identical to the one I removed.

After installing it and hooking everything up, it goes up perfectly and adjusts like it's supposed to. However, it gets stopped going down (see pics below) and won't go all the way. There's a thunk about 7/8 of the way down just before it stops moving.

I've looked and can't find anything binding. The only theory I have is that the wheel is getting stuck on the front edge of the track where it can't go any further (see pics - blue arrow is where it seems to be out of travel), but I can't see any way to adjust the forward/back travel on the regulator arms or the track.

Has anyone fixed this issue? Thanks!

On my car, the felt in the vent window channel was dried out and had some caked up grease as well. The window would get hung up about 2/3 of the way down. New felt cured it.

Agree with this ^^^^ open it back up and do the felts and lubricate. Actuate the the assembly and look for binding.

Trying again to upload the images which appear broken (new uploader)

I like the felt theory, but I did replace it already, and it appears from this pic (if you can see it) that the window glass bottom edge/corner, has gone down already past the bottom of the felt...

Any other ideas?

Jason

Having just dealt with this issue....

One other possibility is that the front and rear window guide channels are not quite parallel, maybe too wide at the bottom. Since you helped me with my window alignment recently, I imagine that you've already considered this.

On my car, I noticed that the old window felt only went about 2/3 of the way down the channel. When I replaced mine, I had plenty of felt so I filled the channel all the way to the bottom. I can't say whether or not this made the difference, but it is a possibility.
