Reinstalling Cruise Control?
I resealed my motor last Summer and when I reinstalled the motow I removed/disconnected the cruise control. I am torn trying to determine if I should reinstall. I never used it but I feel it came with the car and I should put it back. It probably saves me about 12 oz of weight! What do you think??

If you have all the parts, and they are fully functional, why not? Either the brain, the cable, or the actuator may be faulty, and derail your efforts. I have some highway driving planned, so I just went through this.
Good luck, Dave |
I had pulled mine when the cable to the TB broke.
finally decided to put back in. ended up using a guitar string to replace the inside wire of that cable. dont use much, but nice to have when convenient to use. |
Cruise Control is useless in daily use. It is a wonderful thing on long road trips.
My cruise quit last year. I did all the tests (the manual is wrong for the test procedure by the way) and everything was testing fine except nothing worked. I sent the brain off to be fixed and while looking at the engine I finally noticed the Bowden cable was broken. I had to replace it with a used one since they are not available new at all anymore. |

I just got a full set to replace strings on my guitar for $5.
and I used a little wire clamp on the end at the TB. the stop on the string worked fine for the cruise actuator end. good luck. just dropped the car off the lift yesterday after a lot of work, taking for a nice drive today. going to hit 65 and dry.SmileWavy |
You can still get the cable but you have to order it from Porsche in Germany. Not cheap though. About $200 from memory.

The SC cable is available from our host. The 3.2 cable is listed as NLA. Maybe Porsche direct will provide something.
Good luck, Dave |
I live on a curvy road that was built for 55mph but the county commissioners gave in to the bicycle crowd and dropped the speed down to 40mph; local law enforcement loves it for the easy tickets it generates.
How anybody could drive down this road without cruise control is beyond me. Chuck.H '89 TurboLookTarga, 426k miles |

Hi Glen,
What exactly is the difference in CC cable from SC to 3.2? Could the SC cable be modified to work with a 3.2? Thanks, Dave |
I don't know. I don't have a cable for the SC handy. I guess I need to find a buddy with a SC and take a look at them together, side by side.
