no power to foot well / aux blowers
New car to me. I am attempting to get heat working. One item I need help with is that I do not have power to my foot well / auxiliary heaters. Although I have read many posts, especially around the relays in the rear engine compartment and engine blowers, I am confused on what root cause of my issue could be. My car has a 3.6 transplant, and I know there is no main heat blower back in the engine bay (I was told it would not fit). Any ideas on what I should look into or do to get power to those foot well heaters? Thanks.

My understanding is that the footwell blowers are interlocked to the engine compartment blower and will not run unless it is running. If someone removed the engine blower but didn't modify the circuitry to defeat the safety interlock, this could be your problem. Hopefully fellow Pelican Gerry will chime in, as he knows how to remedy this.

I can confirm the safety interlock. When my rear blower seized up, the footwell blowers also stopped working, and all was well after I replaced the rear blower motor. So some sort of bypass will need to be done to that circuit.

Take the cover off the heater relay and solder in a jumper wire between the reed switch solder joints if it's an SC or Carrera.

Thanks guys - great info. If at all possible, can you please elaborate on the reed switch solder joints? I'm not sure what that is. Sounds like once I know what that is - simple enough to add a jumper in and solder it (just not sure what that is or what pin, etc) Thanks again.

What body is it? Your sig says 930. 930s didn't have engine mounted blowers.

Yes, mine is a '86 930 but it has a 3.6 varioram conversion (non turbo engine from a 1995)

if it has the auto heat there is a switch inside the heat controls that goes bad.
the heat will not come on if the rear temp sensor is bad. you can unplug it at the controls and the heat should come on., all that sensor does is prevent the heat from coming on when the engine is cold. goto the 930 page and look for my post on the auto heat. if you don't want to replace the switch I utilized the other limit switch to also run the fans. I don't know how long this fix will last.
