Selective Yellow Headlights in Belgium

I have an '88 coupe and wanted to swap out my standard headlight lenses with H4 Selective Yellow. Found a guy in Germany who will sell you a pair for $169 if anyone's interested.

Do any of our Euro-Pelicans know if they are legal in Belgium? I know they were in France for reasons already outlined in previous posts.

My car is guards red and I thought yellow lights would look cool. I also blackened the rims as I'm trying to get rid of the chrome bling look and as the clear headlights are kind of chrome-ish, thought yellow would be a nice change. It's also foggy where I live from time to time so they might actually even serve a functional purpose.

I think it is still allowed.
But......If the genius at the technical inspection disagrees, you'll have to swap them. No matter if they are legal or not.

Thanks Geronimo. Appreciate the response.

As for Technical Control, swapping out yellow for clear lenses before the control would be a quick way to avoid this. My only concern would be the police pulling me over which - if you're right shouldn't be problem.

If on the other hand - it is, I'll let you know!

Hey Belgians, would you mind if I posted an unrelated photo and question on your thread? I think my car is from Belgium (I found a bunch of Belgian money inside it when I dismantled) and someone put some kind of sticker on the ashtray and I've wondered what it is?

Let me know if I can post the photo or delete my post.

Thanks!

A clear coat Rustoleum or Krylon yellow stained glass paint and a standard set of lenses is way cheaper. Coat the inside to the desired tone and it will be indistinguishable. It's quite possible that's what the guy that's selling you the lenses is doing in the first place.

Hey Puma, post away! No problem. I'm sure our Belgian contingency can help!

Thanks TAG for the info on the glass stain. Not sure I can find it here, but will look. Heavens knows - they sure have a lot of stained glass here in old Europe (probably didn't use Krylon back in the day though...)

Hi...Our car is black, and I would like to have the headlights in a black tint. I saw one a few years ago with them and it looked kind of cool... Any thoughts on how this was done?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks Kees. For the life of me though, I can't find pages 173 and 174. The pages start at 9736 and go from there... What am I missing?

VHT makes a product called night shade. Comes in a spray can like the stained glass stuff. It's a tinting product that gets darker with more coats. I've used it with mixed results on turn and tail light lenses.

Testers model paint in transparent yellow is an option also. I used the red on tail lights that still looked good after 5 years .

Kees is correct. Legally not an issue and the law is on your side. But if that is going to do you any good when you have Dumbo and Pluto at your drivers door....I doubt it...

I did mine with Krylon Stain Glass about 8 years ago. They still look as good as when first applied.

Did you paint the inside of the lense?

On a set of tail lights I did, the finish came out flat. Not sure what happened but I had to strip it down and redo it. This shouldn't be an issue if you spray the inside of the lenses.
