Austin 912 Rendezvous: 1/18/03: Schedule of events
Hello Texas 912ers and Porsche fans!
The big day is almost upon us! I am really looking forward to meeting some of you and having a great day. The weather seems to be cooperating enough to keep us on schedule. After a cold morning in the 30s, the daytime high is supposed to be in the 50s and sunny. Once you get 'em started, our old air cooled engines love this stuff. I have taken suggestions from some of you and have worked out a schedule of events for the day. It is at the end of this mail. Should you need anything, get lost, or have a breakdown, call me on my cell phone at (512) 422-0234 and we will come rescue you. (unless you break down in Houston.... then you're on your own!) 1/18/03 RENDEZVOUS SCHEDULE OF EVENTS: 0900-1200: Arrivals in Cedar Park at Morrie's house. Introductions, photos, and any needed repairs. Coffee, OJ, soda and rolls will be available. 1200-1230: Short group run (~3 miles) to "Bubba's Ice House" for lunch. Bubbas is a casual burger joint on the main drag in Cedar Park. 1230-1330: Lunch, socialize, finalize plans for the day. 1330-1400: Return to Morrie's house to regroup. Support vehicles picked up for the drive. 1400-1430: Drive to a local 911 owners home who will be joining us for the day. 1430-1500: At Bill's house he has a fully restored 1970 911 "Garage Queen" he spent 10 years completing. As this is a very similar car to our 912s, a great time to look and ask questions. 1500-1545: Drive to Clay's house. 1545-1800: Clay is currently rebuilding his 66 912 into a club racer. It is fully stripped and a near rolling chassis. Perfect time to ask, "how does this come apart!" Clay has promised to have a few cold ones available! 1800-1830: Travel to Albertsons 1830-???: Albertsons has an informal car show every Saturday night in the parking lot. We'll head over, see who's there, and visit a while. Clay can probably help us with a nearby place for dinner. Once were done here, we're done. Afterwards, anyone needing a place to sleep is welcome to roll out a sleeping bag at my place. Otherwise, it's goodbyes and we're all off to home. |

Great job, Morrie!! It was a lot of fun, I am sure the guys that drove in from Houston and Dallas areas enjoyed the day with our hills, curves & sunshine!!! Let's do it again soon!...
|
you have exceeded the bandwidth already...have to wait 2 hours to view the page. Can you post a few pics here?
|
Aw, man! I can't believe there was a early 911 (body) gathering in Austin this weekend, and I am only reading it on Monday!!! I have a '73T, would have loved to join you guys, even if my motor sounds funny (six cylinders and all...)
Please let me know if you do it again- |
By the way, what Albertsons are you talking about? Are there typically any P-cars there?
|
The Albertsons is down by the Y at 2222 in Oak Hill. We Austinites could meet up there some saturday nite and make a showing agianst the American muscle cars..... let me know and I'll see who I can scare up... maybe in a couple weeks???
