VDO Gauge Bezels

I recently acquired a combination instrument (fuel and oil levels) housing as the basis for installing an AFR meter in my SC. The bezel on it is unlike any I've ever seen.

Referring to the pictures below note that it has a step, or possibly an ogee, in the inside diameter.the “ogee” part of it is separate! This is different in appearance from the bezels in my ’82, a ’66 912 belonging to a friend of mine, and the 964. The bezel is also in two pieces! The inner ring with that makes the ogee or step is separate from the outer ring that slips over the housing.

The P/N 911.641.202.03 visible on the face of the one image comes up as fitting 1975 - 1989. I googled that number and came up with a lot of them for sale on eBay and elsewhere, but NONE of the images illustrating the part had a bezel like this one! So, where did this come from?

I can still use it, since it is black and not really in "plain" sight, but it is unusual, at least to me.
