Post Who will rent me a Porsche in Germany?

I'm going to Germany for Christmas. I usually rent an economy car while there, as I do a lot of driving and the gas prices are insane. But I feel like Rudolf, not getting to play in any reindeer games, watching the Porsches, BMW's, MB's and Audi's fly past me. I will still probably get a cheap car for the trip, but wouldn't mind splurging for a day or two to have some fun. I will be in Frankfurt, Koeln, Berlin, Halle, Muenchen and Stuttgart -- quite a lot of driving. But I have 3 wks. A friend there let me take his 993 out once, but has since been stolen and he has a Boxster now. I have to have some real fun on the highways there. Anyone ever rent a P-car there and where?

I rented a Z3 from Sixt. I reserved it online at www.sixt.com - easy to do, good rate (until I paid for the petrol!). The premium cars typically need to be returned to the same airport.

If you have any problems finding your ride, let me know, we have an office in Munich and I know of folks that rent exotics in Germany for fun.

Autobahn, top down - mach schnell!

Have fun,

Don

Richard,

Budget/Sixt rents all sorts of exotic cars in Germany, from Porsches to Merc and BMW's. Most larger cities have them but you might be better served to contact them ahead of time. There are even places where they rent BMW motorcycles if you are so inclined.

Pay for the rental HERE with insurance as if you do it in Germany you are subject to the VAT of 18% and that hurts. Would be nice to ask ahead and get one with GPS navigation system built in as well to keep you on the right track. Last time I was there gas was almost $5 a gallon so take lots of money!

Its well worth it... running almost 200 klicks in the left lane, legally... its a blast! I had no problem with using a US drivers license there but if you have time you might get a AA international one as some of the smaller places like one...

Enjoy it and take pictures!

Joe
