Refinishing scuffed alloys?
has anyone like me gone to the expense of fitting expensive wheels and tyres swearing to never damage them only to scuff or kerb them by some weird quirk of fate (not your fault........ the rim God doesn't like you) after stopping crying and kicking the cat a lot how much does it cost to get slight scuffs out?....ones that can't be polished by hand

That's a tough one. If the scuffs are too deep to polish I believe that they would be filled by some type of brazing or welding process. Then they would be roughly cut down, precision balanced (In some type of lathe) and a finish, if required, would be applied.
If the wheel is a modular type the outer rim may be able to be replaced. Assuming they are OE wouldn't Robert Wood do these type of repairs? I defer to other more knowledgeable members. http://www.wheelenhancement.com/

Al Reed for this work.
Also, some tires provide a "curb protector" in the rubber just at the rim (example: Yokohama Decibels). John
