So, I looked, scratched my head and decided to do it simple. I did not use the module that Tim was kind enough to send me.....I spliced into the ground for the driving lights and then hung a + wire on the unused fog fuse. Took me 10 minutes.

See the results, just the day timers and then full bore hi beams with the 140 watt H-4s, the LED driving light and the cheap ass China flat LED strips. Should be a good "get out my way" look when faced head on....

Sorry if not exzactly in focus but you get the idea.

Brrright! :)

Joe Bob...Are your HL halogen bulbs 100/140 W - Or?

I see that they now sell 100/160...If going with these, I believe one would likely have use a seperate wiring harness, complete with relays ay.

Joe Bob 01-28-2017 08:50 PM

100/140W BRIGHTEST they had back then. I do have relays to save my column stalk.

Thanks!

BTW, since I will not be using the module Tim sent me, I will let it go for $25 bucks. Never used...with instructions and wire, fasteners and wire nuts. Looks to be a simple install.

Same price as what Tim asked. It will work very well with the parking light circuit for day light running.

A horse with no name 01-29-2017 06:26 PM

Hmmm?.. I just 'gave' it to Tim, so that was a quick $25 for him ay ;)

PS - No, not really :D ..It does thought appear that Tim gave you a smoke'n deal on it so you should be abe to re-sell it quite easily at that price ay.

Here is my "easy" fix.

Best,

Gerry

Gerry, I have looked at using the fog lights on my '86 as DRLs same as you. My plan was to do the mod on the light switch by moving the G/W wire going to the fog light switch and connecting it with the R/W wire going into the light switch. I like your approach better since it is easier accessible.
When you move the G/W wire from fuse 20 to 11 can fuse 11 handle the extra load, or is it basically the same as I would do?

I'm a mechanical guy and less knowledgeable about this electric stuff.

Er, what?

I bought two of those relays several years ago from Daniel Stern. They've been sitting in a drawer. Not sure what you're talking about there!

The wire I moved is solid grey, and,
only serves to pull up the fog light relay
as per the picture I posted.

My fog light switch is illuminated with the ignition on. There is no click when pulled in or out. I that normal?

Also I am considering using that switch if the above is normal for another function. What color are the wires coming form it and where can I find them w/o having to pull all the fresh air components out of the way in the frunk?

Also, what are the wire colors on the other switch and function? This 911 is a grey market cabriolet and those two switches were never connected to anything that I can determine. I assume on an SC the switch to the right would be a rear window defroster or something....btw, that switch does NOT illuminate in any position.

Hi Joe,
You will need to pull the fresh air blower to get to the back of the fog light switch. This is also the time to work on cigarette lighter, and defroster switch. Switch bulbs are changed from that side too. Pulling the blower takes about 20 minutes, maybe 6 screws and 3 or 4 hose clamps. The duct to the center dash vent comes out revealing the dash switches.
Good luck,
Dave

Thanks, I will probably end up having to do that.....I swapped the the two switches and the defroster switch lights up when used on the fog light receptacle. I guess I will have to hit the Bentley up and do some studying.....
