1987 coupe low mount third brake light

How does the cover come off to change the bulb? I tried pushing on the little knurled centre bit, but it didn't work and I was worried I would break it if not careful. Thanks

If memory serves (and it often doesn't) I inserted a flat blade screw driver in the knurled slot and pushed to release the housing. My car is in winter storage otherwise I'd check it out for you. It was actually easy to do. FYI - clean the lens while in there. Someone chime in and correct me if I'm wrong.
