Tunnel fuel lines '83 SC
While my engine is out I have been researching replacement fuel lines for the tunnel lines. As many know, the tunnel lines are crimped onto short lines up front to the tank (return) and from the pump (hi pressure), so one can't easily replace the short lines without replacing the crimped on tunnel sections as well (unless you want to use hose clamps on the hi pressure side with some careful cutting.) I was under the impression that these were no longer available. But I looked up the parts in the PET, and found them easily in our host's catalog. I even called and confirmed they were in stock. I was planning on ordering a set of replacements from the very-helpful Len, and still hope to, but I cannot seem to reach him, been trying for several weeks, so I'm considering these. If I've missed something here, please educate me!

Those are correct, I also needed to replace them but my mechanic is going to have new hoses crimped.

Have you emailed him? I know that Len spends a lot of time during the winter at his cabin. I had luck with both email and calling his shop.
The process is SUPER easy especially with the engine out. It took me and a buddy maybe 20 min to do both lines. You will want to replace the grommets (there are 4) on each end as well. Len provides a threaded fitting that allows you to tie the new to the old and just pull them through from the rear to the front. Your second set of hands will help the line navigate the obstacles in the tunnel.

Just a quick question: What are the lines made of .. beside the rubber section connect to length's of plastic tubing?

![]() This is not just "plastic tubing"!! This is Polyamide....... ......a "Superior" and best available tube from Germany and it is practically bulletproof. The failures almost never occur at the tube but at the Rubber Hoses. To make matters worse, the Front Hoses are permanently crimped to the tunnel lines, requiring complete replacement when the hose itself fails. ALL rubber will fail with time & conditions. The Feed Hose from the Pump to the Tunnel is usually the first to fail with the high fuel pressures of CIS and EFI. I make up Polyamide Tunnel Lines (bottom photo) with fittings at both ends so Hose Replacements can be easily made without replacing the Tunnel Lines themselves. Len

Len, Not sure if you're still watching this thread. My emails are still not getting through I don't think, although I am getting your's. I sent off a postal money order to you today for some tunnel and front lines.
