Plating and powder coating in DC?
Hi Pelicans - I'm mid-suspension refresh, and on the lookout for a shop (or shops) to powder coat the usual components (A-Arms, sways, etc.) and I'd like to replate the fasteners like yellowzincplating.com used to do (I got an email saying they are not accepting work currently). Prefer shops that are local to me (I'm in Montgomery County, MD).
Any recommendations/experience with shops in my area? Thanks in advance! ![]() |

You can forget about the plating in this area.. best bet is to send it out to Shaun @ Tru-6 here on the forum.
There is a decent powder coating outfit in old town Gaithersburg. Can't remember the name. And assume you're aware.. you got a bit more disassembly to do to those items before powder coating.

I'll look up Shaun and the Gaithersburg shop you mention - appreciate the tip.
Ever heard of EastCoast PowderCoat in North East, MD? Yep, well aware of the need for additional disassembly - thanks! Quote:

You could go to Primo PowderCoating in Frederick and there is Hi Tech Powder Coating in Boonsboro also Classic PowderCoating in Gaithersburg. They are located on E. Diamond Ave, that might be the place onboost was referring to.

+2 on Shaun @True 6. He is currently restoring a 1970 engine grill for me.

I use American Stripping Company (ASCo) in Manassas, VA.
I had them do a bunch of suspension components (like your pile of stuff, but more) about 4-5 years ago; it still looks like new. Also had them do my engine tin when I rebuilt the engine. Not cheap - but they do great work. No need to clean at all prior to dropping off - they will do all the prep work and return the items like new. About Us - American Stripping Company Gordo

I believe I used ASCo many years ago to powder coat an airplane fuselage for me. They did a great job back then.
I have used Alexandria Metal Finishers before Metal Finishing Services, Precious Metal Plating, Exotic Substrate Plating - Lorton, Virginia for airplane parts and they did a good job for me. Again, this is quite a few years back. I am ready to contact them again to do some parts from my current airplane for me. Juergen

I used Extreme Powdercoating in Newington VA for all the suspension pieces on my 69 BMW. They did a great job on everything I brought them.
