Tires for 7"/9" x 16" Fuchs?

Also posted on the 930 forum...

What's the recommended sizes the look and fit the best on a '86 930? Downsizing from some boy-racer 19" to a stock set of Fuchs. No track time is anticipated, just street fun.
I know the stock sizes, and a few alternates, but what is available NOW?

Something the fills the wheelwells with tire without rubbing issues.

Recommendations? Who sell them for the best $$$.

Thanks; Steve

I have a widebody, 7-9x16 euromeisters, went with front 205/55/16, rear 245/45/16, Tires:Bridgestone Potenza RE 11. Got them from tire rack. Car not back together yet but don't anticipate any problems. Fairly standard for turbo/widebody. Good luck, Tim

205/55-16 and 245/45-16 were the original size on the car.

I ran Toyo RA1's and then Bridgestone RE-11's. The Bridgestones are excellent tires and available now. I didn't mind the RA1's, but listening to every little pebble and stone sand blast your car got to be tiresome.

I run 225/50 and 245/45 on my 7&9-16s Toyo Proxies TR1s on Carrera flares. Believe this will work on a 930 without rubbing issues

I see "Performance Plus" shows the Kuhmo XS in 265/45-16 sizes, I thought they were discontinued. Anyone running 265's? I like the slightly taller sidewall look.

Install 15" then, you're killing the performance on our cars by going with a taller tire.

I purchased RE-11's through Costco for my 7"/9" Fuchs. 205 front, 245 rear is fine and the 205 will give you a decent light feel without too much interference with the rim lip (roll it anyways).

A 225 on the front makes sense for panels wider than the SC or racers who know the feel and grip they want, but for the street you are just putting a sock down your drawers (hint: it goes in the front).

It's certainly taller than the 245/45R16's that were stock, but at 25.4" diameter, it's a tad smaller than the 315/35R17's (25.7") that I'm currently running on my TurboLook, and would help the OP fill up the wheel wells a little better.

The 315/35's do lower the effective gear ratio a little, but not enough to keep me from starting in second gear which I do normally.

It's for a 930 so clearance to the lip should not be an issue.
