How hard should to be to compress a front strut off the car?

Hi guys - I have a set of SC struts that I bought and am trying to figure out if the inserts are still good. How hard should it be to compress the strut by pressing down on it.

I've turned it upside down and compressed it by holding the spindle and it moves smoothly but easily. Should there be much resistance?

How long is this rope? Different inserts exert different forces.

Yeah, yeah. I know :-)

I guess I was surprised that it took very little pressure to compress it. I was expecting it to require some shove.

Bilsteins

I have relatively new (~4 years old) Bilstein Sports and need to really lean into them to get them to compress.

They are very slow / gradual to compress.

The strut inserts that I replaced appeared to be the original Boge's, which compressed with very little effort.

Good luck,

Gordo

on several used set I have tried, I have to use my body weight to compress them. Both front and rear came down very slow.
