Door Trim Removal

Hi,
Does anyone know how to remove the trim that runs the length of the door at the window? I can slide it forward and backward about an inch or so but then it just stops. FWIW, the car is a 77 targa.

If it's like mine, (the black trim piece that hold the window squeegee?) you can gently pry it upwards. It has tabs that fit into the door itself.

Yup, the black one on the outside has lil clips that hold it into the door itself. Just gently pry up taking care not to mar the paint or bend the moulding. Once its tweeked its awful hard to get it looking right.

My 76 with chrome: trim is soft (brass?) with chrome overlayer. Go easy lifting either end with screwdriver on some soft material - say electrical tape to protect the trim strip and the door paint. If you're too agressive, the stip can be bent. Can also be bent back - but heartache meanwhile. clips bow out slightly in their middle thus:

Well, that will get the old one out, but how do you get the new rubber in?????????It is my understanding that the door panel has to be removed to get at the rubber squeegee for replacement.
