Replacing all fuel system components, OEM or after market?

Hello all

I've decided to completely replace my fuel system from tank to engine and would like to hear people's thoughts on OEM or after market replacement parts.

The car
1974 911T Targa 2.7
That hasn't been driven since 2001

Parts already collected

1) new Dansk fuel tank and Gasket
2) New fuel lines from fellow pelican BoxsterGT

Parts still needed

1) New Fuel pump
2) New Fuel filter
3) New Injectors

*Fingers crossed that the CIS system is still ok.

Thanks
Jr

CIS components testing........

JR,

I could test your FD, WUR, AAR, injectors, etc. for FREE. And will ship them back to you within a week after receiving the package. Just take care of the return postage. PMme if you are interested.

Be careful with replacement Bosch fuel pumps. A lot of fakes out there. Need one built in Czechoslovakia.

Well, it appears you can not get the original Bosch pump unless you spring for the Porsche factory replacement. The Stoddard web site has a clear picture of the original pump. If the picture of the aftermarket Pierburg pump is correct, it does not have it's outlet port on the side of the pump body like the original. It has an inline discharge port with the check valve built in like pumps used on later models. The outlet banjo fitting on the outlet fuel line fits over the snout of the pump and is secured with two sealing washers and a closed nut (called a cap in PET). I do not know if the nut(cap) is supplied with the replacement or not.

The closest Bosch pump I could find that looks like the original was Bosch P/N 0580254996, which is used on Volvo's.

Jr and I have been discussing this.

I believe he is going with a later pump (Like the Pierburg) mounted up front.

The original style pump with the side outlet is very expensive. Plus, buying a replacement Banjo with the built-in check valve adds to the cost as as well.

The later pumps with the outlet at the end with the built-in check valve are much less costly. Today just about all European and many Japanese car models use this type of pump. When tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands are made, the cost per unit comes down, dramatically.

If one keeps their original config and mounts the new style pump, a one-piece Feed line from the Pump to the Accumulator can be made up (as the factory did with the 75 model year). This eliminates the connections between (2) hoses and (1) tube through the frame rail. And with (4) hose clamps that are NOT ideal with the high pressures of CIS injection.

Just something to think about.

My new Bosch fuel pump didn't make through a year.

Most of us are sending our pump out to Fuel Injection Corp. They do a beautiful job. Just Goggle them. You'll be happy.

Len,

I replied (2x) to your emails and did not receive any response regarding you picking up the OEM brass oil lines. Please confirm if you got my messages earlier. Thanks.

Here are a few pics of my current fuel filter and accumulator, I've done a part# search but it doesn't look like my original filter is available anymore, any suggestions?

Thanks

I didn't know that I could have my original pump rebuilt lol so I took Leonard's advise and will be relocating an after market pump upfront.

Thanks

OK, that's a SC/Carrera type tank from Dansk.

It does NOT have a Filter screen inside, but I have a solution w a Setrab Lifetime Pre-Filter.

I will send info.
