Speedometer wiring question

After remove my speedo from the dash and removing the plastic terminal board from the back of the instrument, I noticed the inside red wire was disconnected from it's terminal. Not sure if I caused that of if it has been that way for some time.

Do any of you know if that disconnected red wire has any effect on the operation of the odometer?

Thx

Thank you for that shot. I knew where the red wire belonged and I re-soldered it in place.
What I was concerned about was if the red wire has anything to do with the odometer functionality.

The odometer is functioned by the gears. This yellow one has the teeth missing you can see the new gear in the second photo. Count the teeth on the original and order the one you need.
