Thanks Matt. It's been interesting following the diary! You are very lucky to have a guy like John available to you!! Do you plan to have this thing dyno'd to see if you reached the 260-270HP goal?

Excellent Matt! I see you are back on the road and you (and your wallet) must be feeling a sense of accomplishment!

I too would be keen to see dyno results. Also, when it is done if you can re-record and repost the sound of the engine running through the gears (like you did last time), that would be awesome (especially with the extra few hundred revs over the old motor that you will have when run in).

Regards

Cam

Good show, Matt!

I don't think you ever said what the diameter of the new JE pistons was ... so what are they???

Like the torque with those GE-60 cam, huh?

Is that a 169-series, or a 184-series distributor?

Cegerer,

John is the kind of wrench you dream of finding -- he's concerned more about helping fellow enthusiasts preserve their passion than he is with exploiting passion, if you know what I mean.

As soon as the engine is broken in, we'll be putting the car on the dyno. John has guaranteed a minimum of 250bhp, but has said he'll be shocked if my engine will have a final output that's less than 260bhp. But, we'll see!

Cam,

I'll be creating several audio and video clips of the car as soon as I'm allowed to hit 7,600rpm!

Warren,

The JEs I've got are 90mm. As for the increased torque by virtue of the GE-60 cams, it's really quite amazing!

What model distributor should I have?

It was a sunny Friday afternoon when I got the call.

Matt: "Adam! I'm on the road!"
Adam: "Hey! Stop by work. I gotta see this!"
Matt: "On my way"

After Matt took me around the block, I can say that this motor is very smooth. It seems to have the throttle response that most sport bikes enjoy. Even with Matthew's strict regimen of No Full Throttle, the car has an urgency not felt in 2.7 litre cars.

I can only imagine what it'll be like when it's fully run-in. I am predicting a beast!

Matt,

It couild be either one. The early 911/83 engines had the Bosch 0.231.169.011 distributor, and the last in '76 had the 0.231.184.004. Different point sets ... the same 'mirror image' problem as the rest of the 2.4 line with '72/'73 changes in production distributors. Same specs as those shown in the following thread where I posted them:
