Who makes the best duck tail lid?
I have decided to put a duck tail on my SC. Who is making the best basic piece for fit and finish. Some I have seen look like junk. I want the thing to look factiory perfect when the body shop and painter get done. Seems like a good idea to start with the best....who would that be??

Gary Kempton Restorations (formerly Made By Hand, Inc) makes one that is a fiberglass tail bonded to a stock decklid. This type would be the easiest to fit, but they cost $800.

Jack, thanks a bunch, just what I was looking for. I know you have had one of everything. What tail are you going to be using on the new car and whos is it?

Lester whale tail: has anyone any experience of fitting this part? what is the fit like? Does it come with all the rubber fittings? quality of finish? etc.
Before spending over 600€ I want to be sure of what I am buying. Regards Dean-Bilbao-Spain |
I'm having all my tails painted except the stock one. For street use, there'll be a ducktail (garden variety) and a 964 lid with retracting spoiler. For track use, an IROC tail for when I want to look vintage and a 3.8RS tail with a huge new cf rear wing for when I want to set some personal-best lap times..
