Will car function with guages disconnected?
I've got a '79 930 and I'm trying to wrap up some projects before spring. To speed up this process I'd like to send in my fuel gauge and temp gauge to North Hollywood Speedometer for refresh but I need to be able to drive my car in the mean time for another service appointment.
So what do I need to be aware of? Will the car even start with those two gauges removed? Will car function normally other than having access to those two gauges? Any insight will be appreciated... |
Pretty sure you would be fine ...
A lot of cars work with the gauges broken .... Yes ... you'll be fine . |
Thanks for your reply. To be a little more clear, my question is not if car will work with broken gauges, but if car will function normally with gauges removed. I'm a little concerned about all the electrical connections that will not be hooked up to any gauges. Thanks

Wasn't the alternator light in the temperature gauge necessary to make the charge circuit work correctly? At minimum, I'd hook up/improvise an alternator warning light...

You need the alternative warning light. Not surewhich gauge it is in your car, but if it is in the ones you are sending out just pull the bulb out but leave the connections in place.
