Anyone else using these wheel locks?
I just bought a set of these German wheel locks on Ebay. I was wondering if anyone else is using them and what you think of them?

I have a set very similar, they work great and look like ordinary nuts when buttoned up. Just be careful not to overtighten the outer part (about 60lb/ft), they can break quite easily (apparently).

Hi MJ, Yes I use those..Except mine are polished..I think they look better than the typical Porsche key locks. atleast with my FISKE rims..and when installed are almost imposible to remove.. so don't lose that Removal KEY.
I ordered 2 keys with my set. Jorge (Targa Dude) |
Hahahahaha, man I had bad experience with those! Do NOT let anyone with a air gun near these! Unbenounced to me when I got new tires (and changed at a local tire shop) the wrench stripped the "key" and the locking nut at the same time. Of course he didn't tell me...
Quite a while later I got a flat and went to change it only to find the key and lock were toast. I was 200 miles from anywhere... Once I got my car towed home I got it to a garage to take an impact wrench to bust off the lock nut. Moral; always hand tighten and untighten... My two cents (CDN) |
I also bought the polished ones to match my wheels. I'll definitely listen to your advice and hand tighten it! And I'm going to order another removal key just to be on the safe side...
