high torque starter, different connections

The original starter had two flat pins to plug into. This high torque starter from Pelican has only one flat pin.

Do I wire both the ignition and cold start wires together?

Did the new high torque starter come with a schematic or wiring diagram?

Contact Pelican, they will be able to tell you how to correctly hook it up.

Starter Wiring Connections....

RazorRacer,
If you cannot find a schematic wiring diagram for your starter, take it to a starter/alternator shop. They could tell you on the spot the correct wiring set-up.

If I remember right, your car should have a three-wire harness to your starter. My two-cents........

Razor,

Check out this passage from Bob Tindel's description of the Hi Torque starter install

"The Hi Torque starter has only one spade terminal. Both of the yellow wires are connected to this, using an adapter (Figure 4). The larger (2.5mm) yellow wire carries the control signal from the ignition switch. The smaller yellow wire (.5mm, may also have a colored stripe) activates the cold-start injector when the starter is engaged."

Good luck!

I am glad this came up. I have a new hi-torque starter sitting in its box for my 3.6 conversion and haven't even looked at the connections.

I found the piggy-back adapters at Autozone for $1.99 per 10.
