Solex PI 40 Emulsion Tube Nr. 8
Hello,
I am currently rebuilding a pair of Solex PI 40s for a 1965 car with engine number 901 191. I was told the engine was not running right after a rebuild a few years ago. The car has not been used since. The carburettors have been modified from standard configuration. The venturis are now 34mm in place of the standard 30mm, the Main Jet is 140, the Air Correction jet is 170, and the Emulsion Tubes are unmarked and therefore unknown. There are 12 holes of 1.00mm diameter and the end is closed. The total length is 38.50mm, the head diameter is 5.00, and the tube diameter is 4.00mm. I will supply a photo tomorrow if it will help but I am certain it is not the required Nr 8 size as the end is closed. I have bought 125 size Main Jets, and 180 Air Correction jets, as per the specifications for engines from 903 360 onwards, but the Emulsion Tubes are a problem. I would like to buy Nr. 8 Emulsion Tubes with open ends as these were one of the main fixes for the flat spot on these carburettors. Does any body know where I can buy them? I have checked with Porsche and many sites and they are no longer available. Most sites give the part number as 901.100.947.00 and the title is the misleading - Lower Part Pump. Hopefully somebody can point me in the right direction... Thanks, Colm |
