Something for 911ST fans...
The latest (Feb 2003) edition of "GT Purely Porsche" magazine here in the UK has an article (with some nice photos) on the 840kg sister car to Larrouse's Tour de France ST. I recently saw this car when I was at Autofarm (where it is for sale) picking up my one-piece grp rear bumper but didn'y have my digital camera with me.
Here's a few scans from the article: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Andy Boyle(UK) '69 911E------------>R |

That picture straight from the back makes it look quite menacing with the black light plates, like it's frowning. I love it.
Can you post some higher-resolution pics of the front blinker? I wonder who makes these. GeorgeK |

Apart from it's obvious merits, such as goes and stops fast, handles beautifully, but what a cute car. I love the body style with the flared wheel arches, low ride hight and no ducktail or wing and no front spoiler

Cool! What's the muffler setup? Is that 3 outlets?

I never thought $150,000 could seem so inexpensive.

that reduces traffic stops because it makes it look less like a racecar
(guess I don't know either! ![]() |

Nice one Andy, I don't normally get that magazine, but I will make an exception this month.
In the UK it is illegal to drive on the road with competition numbers unless you actually in an event. The MSA handbook says "any means of indentifying individual cars during a competition MUST be removed at the finish of the event." And the car is for sale at Autofarm Last edited by nick-moss; 01-15-2003 at 11:54 AM.. |

Nick:
I don't usually buy the mag either - I'm not impressed by the writers but they do tend to have superb photos - I only bought this issue for the ST articles. George: Below is a close-up of the front light (which was also one of the 2 front lights used on the 911R). I have searched high & low to try & identify where it was originally used - I think it may have been a DKW or Auto Union 1000. Anyone else any ideas ? ![]() rs911t: Yes, a 3-outlet muffler with caps - for normall road use the 2 central outlets are capped which sends the gas through the main body of the muffler & out of the side outlet. For competition use the side outlet is capped & the gas exits via the 'straight through' central pipes. Andy Boyle (UK) '69 911E----------->R |

Its weird - I agree. Great photos, average prose... A couple of things really get me: - it is ~40% more than 911 & Porsche World - lots of PR (two pagers driving 996 tuner variants get a bit boring after a while) - mistakes (getting better) - comparison articles to BMWs reprinted verbatim in their BMW magazine with only the final couple of paragraphs changed for the bias of the magazine (author would choose Porsche in GT mag (no frills 968 better drivers car) and BMW in BMW mag (M3 only sensible option...) --> that is so lame. But I'll buy the one with the pics of the ST!!!

I never realised the 'ST' had 'R' type indicators - now I can justify fitting them to my 71 'T'

Those are 9" Minilites as Porsche and Fuchs didn't have a wide enough rim at that time
Oddly enough I was driving round the lanes locally, and saw 911S parked in a driveway. Stopped and talked to the owner, he writes for GT Purely Porsche. His 911 was a beautifully restored 2.2S Last edited by nick-moss; 02-01-2003 at 09:00 AM.. |

Sister car for the "Lightest ST"? I didn't know that they made one.

The 914-6 GT used rear minilites too at the time, there were no 15x9 Fuchs then.
I think the minilites are cast and not forged like the Fuchs, so a bit of a comprimise there. (pictures taken from J.Lowes GT site http://fly.hiwaay.net/~jonlowe/) ![]() ![]() |

And they are still making Minilites, but not the 9 x 15
