Rough running
 

HI all
I'm new to this forum I have a Porsche 911sc 1981 I have a problem with starting and running, it starts then dies when I push accelerated it will run but back fires and rubs really rough when I stop revving it dies straight away. I've noticed I have 24 volts at + side of the ignition coil is this normal? I thought it should be 12 volts. Any ideas please :confused:

As a protocol for new PP members, you are requested to post pictures/s of your new ride. Ignore it and you would be ignored. Welcome to the forum. Whatever you do, do not step on the gas pedal during START (cold or warm). This is a fuel injected system and not a carburator.

Ok thanks for the info I've put a pic on but it's upside down as you can see I live in jersey the channel island

24 volts? Hmmm. Check to make sure your volt meter is reading correctly. A Buddy with a 78 bought a new volt meter and it was off by 4 volts. Check what the battery is at too.

Thanks for the welcome. The meter is ok I have another and it reads the same, the battery is new and showing 12volts I'm very confused too. I'm thinking it's possible that the CDI box is faulty
