Cool Another Powder Coated Fan

I thought I'd add my picture to the mix. The fan looks white, but it's silver.

This project turned out to be a little bigger than I thought. When I removed the plastic air guide from the back of the alternator, I found one of the fins had broken off (there's one mysterious rattle fixed). I bolted it back on, but backwards. It took me hours to figure out why I couldn't get everything back together again.

Did all the original 911 designers have tiny hands? Did they hate even a mm of excess wire. I'm always amazed at how there is barely enough room to get my hands around deeply hidden nuts. I little extra wire would sure make alternator removal/installation easier.

Anyway, it's all done and I'm very pleased with the result. Now I just need to put some miles on it to make sure I didn't damage thealternator bearings while removing the pressed on fan.

Great looking fan.

The easiest way to get to the alt is the following:

Remove the dist cap and then take the left side engine duct out. Lots of room inside to get to the remaining bolts and the ground strap.

Thanks to JWW for this tip.

Wow from the looks of your engine bay, your car used to be the same puke, baby diarreha gold that my car is now. Anyone know the name of it?

That is not cosmoline. That is a color change. You can see the colorchange on the decklid hinge.

Yes, metallic gold is quite a color. My 71 coupe was originally that color. Now its silver, all of it except under the dash where the chassis number is written in Crayon(or is it wax pencil?).

Yup, I did a bare metal paint last winter. EPIC!!

I can't remember the color code and no one on the board could ever tell me what the color name was. It was a very brassy gold. I'll paint the engine bay next winter when I remove the engine for some tranny work.

Here's the original color. It's not bad, but paint was coming of. I decided that if I was going to repaint, I might as well change it to a color I loved.

SC mystery paint code?
