The engine/trans is out.
In my quest to restore my 80SC today at 9:00 AM I started the engine drop. It took four hours and it is on the dolly and ready to be put in a corner of the garage. Now its time to empty the engine comartment and pull out the wiring harness. I must be nuts because I'm having a ball. Not to rub it in for anyone who is freezing right now but the garage doors open and it's 75 degrees sunny and no clouds. Hell ya gotta love southern California.

Yeah, yeah...I've been working on a front strut replacement in my garage with the door open so the dogs can play in the yard and it was 8 deg. when I got up...but it warmed up to about 24 during the hot part of the day!

Targa80 it certainly must be nice. The only time the door gets opened is to move something in or out. It was -15 Deg C 2 days ago today it is 0 and monday they are calling for -15 again. Thank god for heated floors, in this country its the only way to go. I removed my engine and tranny two weeks ago and just placed my parts order with Wayne and Porsche (ouch). Good luck with your project.

Ahh yes, but do you have a 23 acres field surrounding your garage? Temperatures in SoCal are great, but the cost of living is horrible. Eh, what the heck.
Congratulations on having the motor out!! The really fun part is tearing into it and getting it back together. Getting the timing and putting it back in was my hard part. I do wish you the best! |
This engine/tranny drop is not for an engine rebuild. I did the engine in late 1999. Now I'm stripping the car down to restore the body.

The motor drop isnt really that hard, but it can be a pain if you cant get the car high enough, wish you luck on your plans and as always post pictures, Kevin
