3.6 conversion 993 headers 02 sensor

A friend and i worked on how to turn the passenger side flanges on the oe 993 headers today, one thing i have a question about is where do i put the oxygen sensor, i can put it just befoer the collector on the header, or just after the collector on the 2.5 inch pipe i will probably run, if i put it on the pipe and not the header itself will it still read the same or will it read different because its in a different location, i think the oe 993 headers have them in the cat crossover pipe, what about the brain will it confuse the brain, doesnt seem like it would, whats your ideas on this, Kevin

I don't think a few inches will matter (that's not what she said). I think if you put the sensor after the cat that would matter, for example.

Kevin,

On the stock set-up the sensor would be in the center of a "mix chamber" as in the picture below. I think this is obviously best because it gets input from all six cylinders (some will argue this doesn't matter). I have been told by the person that did my engine, that the sensor really only needs the input from one cylinder.

I personally think if your using one sensor, it should read all six cylinders. Why else would Porsche have designed the mix chamber. Steve Weiner of Rennsport also confirmed this.

Once I get rid of my leaking POS headers / supper crap muffler deal, I am going with a modified stock setup.
