Good Porsche mechanic in Southern VA?
I am in Danville VA right on the border of NC 40 mi above Greensboro. I' m running at VIR in Feb and then want to rebuild transmission and replace clutch. Any recommendations? While he is in there are there any other things I should have done?
Thanks

Danville? You have one of the best Porsche shops on the east coast right there in the VIR complex!
Suggest you contact G&W Motorsports Have them pull the gearbox. Also contact Gary Fairbanks on 203 866 2466. Gary is one of the best 915 gurus on the planet. He will send you a crate to ship your 915, and will typically turn it around in a week. You could drop your own engine, get the Fairbanks 915 rebuild, then do your clutch yourself. Its a fairly easy job. Having G&W so close is the next best thing. Good luck - might see you are VIR for the Zone 2 DE in April.

I have called G&W every month for the past 6 months. They are hoping to get to the point that they can work on other cars but for now they are covered up with the high dollar race cars they they currently work on. Price Cobb told me to keep calling and hopefully they will be able to accept other cars soon. Anybody else you can think of?
Thanks
